ELECTRICITY COSTS

The non-fuel charge remained
the same in 2018. Over the last 24 years, the non-fuel charge has only increased by 3 cents.

The fuel price increased due to higher world fuel prices. Throughout the year, Grenlec encouraged customers to be aware of the higher prices and to manage their bills by reducing their electricity usage.

COMMITTED TO A RENEWABLE ENERGY FUTURE

For over two decades, Grenlec has advanced renewable energy in Grenada. Grenlec’s Customer Renewable Energy Interconnection Programme and multi-site projects represent an innovative approach to increasing solar energy generation while overcoming the challenge of securing suitable, readily available land.

Together, Grenlec and our customers operate 2.7 MWp of renewable energy systems, representing 8.4% of peak demand. These systems collectively generated 3.3GWh in 2018 – enough electricity to power approximately 1,835 Grenadian homes and avoid carbon dioxide emissions of more than than 2,101 metric tonnes.
